"Scar-Face
is
my Trojan horse and he will enable me to destroy G.I. Joe
headquarters..."
— Destro

Little is known
about the
Cobra courier known as
Scar-Face, as is the
case
with most Cobra officers. While it is suspected Scar-Face may have had
some
experiences
in the intelligence community, he was little more than an errand
boy
for Cobra. Scar-Face's nickname refers to the vertical, "V"-shaped scar
that
runs from his forehead to the tip of his nose.
Scar-Face first
encountered
the
G.I. Joe team during a mission in San
Francisco. The courier was
carrying
a briefcase containing virus strains that were to be delivered to
Cobra's
scientist, Dr. Venom, in Sierra Gordo. In San Francisco,
Scarlett,
Clutch
and
Breaker caught up with Scar-Face after
the van he was in exploded
in
a traffic accident. The courier bailed out before the explosion and was
chased by the Joes. He shot Clutch in the leg and got away, but the
Joes
found a crate addressed to Sierra Gordo in the remnants of the van. The
Joes Breaker,
Stalker,
Snake-Eyes and
Gung-Ho
travelled to the address
where they stumbled onto a Cobra operation. The Joes were captured and
got away, while the
Baroness and Scar-Face
left Sierra Gordo in a Cobra
plane, but not before bombing the island bunker that held Dr. Venom,
Kwinn
and Snake-Eyes. Upon their return to Cobra headquarters, the Baroness
confided
in Cobra Commander that she believed Scar-Face had other loyalties,
possibly
to
Destro. It was later revealed that
Scar-Face was in fact working for
Destro, allowing the Joes to know the location of Cobra's toxin lab
disguised
as a furniture factory. Destro apparently knew some secrets about
Scar-Face's past he did not want revealed. Despite his suspicions,
Cobra Commander let
Scar-Face
continue to work for him.
After a battle against the Joes in
Washington,
D.C., Cobra's forces had to retreat, but Scar-Face was left to fend for
himself and hitched a ride on a bus to his hideout on Coney Island. By
now, Scar-Face was weary of working for Cobra, but he knew too much
about
Cobra's plans to stay away. Seemingly safe on Coney Island, he was
surprised
when he was tracked down by a group of Joes (trying to discover Cobra's
plans), Destro (wanting to use Scar-Face to carry out his plans) and
Kwinn
and Snake-Eyes (trying to find out the whereabouts of Dr. Venom).
Scar-Face
wasn't too happy to be suddenly so popular, but before he could escape,
Kwinn kicked down his door and learned Venom's location after
threatening Scar-Face. Kwinn then let him leave, but Destro
finally caught up with the courier. The pair hijacked a plane leaving
Kennedy airport and flew it to Cobra's base in
Libya.
There, Scar-Face discovered that he had been infected by Dr. Venom's
toxin
and was a "biological time-bomb," ready to infect the G.I. Joe team.
The
Joes played right into Cobra's plans by capturing Scar-Face. Realizing
that he was nothing more than a pawn to Cobra, Scar-Face tried to save
his life by telling the Joes everything he knew about Cobra's plan. By
this time it was too late. During a Cobra attack on Joe headquarters,
Major
Bludd left Scar-Face behind inside the Joes' fortress, despite the
fact
that the courier saved Bludd's life. Explosive charges set to destroy
the
fortress exploded, killing Scar-Face, who was trapped inside. Scar-Face
realized too late that he was just another meaningless soldier in the
eyes
of Cobra, and few mourned his loss
.
