Jinx grew up among the family of Arashikage Ninjas, spending much of her childhood at the clan's home in Japan. Her relatives included the Soft Master, the Hard Master and her second cousin, Tommy -- later known as Storm Shadow. She was even included in a family photo with other clan members when she was only eight years old. Though it is not known if she was present during the incident, Jinx was about ten years old when the Hard Master was mistakenly killed by an assassin who had been hired to kill Snake-Eyes. Storm Shadow was wrongly accused of the murder, and fled Japan. With the death of the Hard Master and the departure of Storm Shadow, the clan was in ruins. Most of the ninjas scattered and the clan was no more.

At some point after the assassination, Jinx made her way to America where she enlisted in the Army. Her ninja training led her to become an undercover operative for Army Intelligence. On the suggestion of Snake-Eyes, Jinx began working for the G.I. Joe team. The ninja known as the Blind Master was running a martial arts school in Denver next door to the garage operated by Crimson Guardsman Fred VII when Cobra Commander arrived with his son Billy. Years before, after Billy had been training under Storm Shadow, the boy was nearly killed and lost an eye and a leg. The Commander asked Fred to build an advanced prosthetic leg for the boy, who had partially lost his memory. Billy slowly regained his memory and met the Blind Master. During their meeting, Jinx arrived and began to test Billy's skills. She soon brought Billy to the Army Defense Language Center at the Presidio in San Francisco, where Billy met members of the Joe team and was reunited with Storm Shadow. The three ninjas stayed in San Francisco, where Storm Shadow eventually opened a martial arts school.

When three members of the G.I. Joe team -- including Storm Shadow's old friend Stalker -- where arrested and thrown into a gulag in the soviet bloc nation of Borovia, Snake-Eyes and Scarlett faked their own deaths so that they could mount an unauthorized rescue of their friends. Jinx used her intelligence-gathered skills to track down Scarlett and Snake-Eyes shortly before their rescue mission. Jinx, Storm Shadow and Billy soon joined the Joes and rescued the prisoners. While retaining her "cover" position at the Presidio, Jinx began to participate in more regular missions for the Joes, including a dangerous mission in which she and other female Joes posed as Army nurses to become hostages of terrorists robbing an Army PX in Germany. When the Joe team was falsely arrested in the aftermath of the Cobra civil war, many Joes went underground to expose the corrupt generals who had accused them. Jinx, Storm Shadow and Billy joined the Joes in rescuing Hawk and General Hollingsworth from the psychiatric hospital they were being held in, and helped exonerate the team.

While Billy continued his training in San Francisco, Jinx was surprised when she was confronted at the Presidio by a woman wielding a gun and claiming to be Billy's mother. Sensing that she may have been telling the truth, Jinx allowed herself to be captured by the woman, who was eventually reunited with Billy. Billy soon left with his mother to start a new life. Soon after, Zartan attempted to kill Storm Shadow, forcing the ninja to abandon his martial arts school in San Francisco. Jinx meanwhile, stayed on at the Presidio and continued working with the Joes. Her service included a mission where she and the other women on the Joe team went undercover as cheerleaders when Cobra threatened to kidnap the President at a major league baseball game. Despite being somewhat embarrassed with the situation, they all managed to save the President's life. Jinx later joined a team of Joes fighting Darklonian terrorists in the heart of New York City. After that mission, Jinx took some time off with Storm Shadow, Scarlett and Snake-Eyes in the High Sierra mountains. Their campsite was attacked by the Red Ninjas who had once worked for Zartan and Cobra. The ninjas revealed themselves to be former members of the Arashikage clan who blamed Storm Shadow for destroying the clan by bringing in an outsider, Snake-Eyes. Jinx and the others fought the ninjas, barely escaping with their lives. For the next few years, Jinx continued on with the Joe team, participating in the Battle of Benzheen, and later becoming a part of the G.I. Joe Ninja Force. Shortly before the Joe team was shut down in 1994, Jinx and the Ninja Force opened a free martial arts school in Spanish Harlem for the underpriviledged children in the area.

After the Joe team was disbanded, Jinx returned to Japan, where she became a bounty hunter in Tokyo. There, she partnered with former teammate Budo, with whom she became romantically involved. Jinx was called back to the United States where she helped Snake-Eyes train young Sean Collins as a ninja apprentice. Months later, Jinx had returned to Tokyo and through her bounty hunting contacts she learned that Cobra agent Firefly was in town working for a mysterious figure known as "Nowhere Man". Firefly had killed Snake-Eyes' first apprentice, Ophelia and caused the death of Sean Collins' teammates from a covert ops group known as the Hammer Team. Jinx contacted them, knowing they'd want to track down Firefly. When they found Firefly, he was recruiting former Cobra agents for the Nowhere Man's organization. Things went awry when Snake-Eyes realized the man being recruited was Storm Shadow. A fight ensued involving Snake-Eyes, Sean and Storm Shadow. Jinx and Budo tried to stop Firefly, but the Nowhere Man's troops arrived and helped him escape. The group was eventually saved by Duke and Chuckles, who revealed that Storm Shadow had been working for them, trying to lead them to Nowhere Man. That admission alone angered Jinx and the others, but Sean Collins discovered that Nowhere Man was actually Mikhail Derenko, a former friend from the Hammer Team. The ninjas and former Joes all converged on a Tokyo nightclub where Derenko, Firefly and Sean's father Wade Collins (working undercover) attempted to access a secret Cobra vault. Eventually, Derenko's plot was foiled, but he and Firefly escaped. Storm Shadow was there, as well, and explained that he still had to work through the brainwashing he had suffered at the hands of Cobra Commander, and left them all again. Weeks later, Jinx presided over the ceremony marking Sean Collins' inititation into the Arashikage clan, where he chose the name Kamakura. Jinx returned to bounty hunting for the next few years, and had little or no contact with the U.S. military or the former Joes.

In 2001, Jinx was suprised to be contacted and offered a position on the newly-reinstated G.I. Joe team. She accepted, and returned to America where she has joined in the fight against a revitalized Cobra organization. Jinx participated in many missions for the new team, including trying to stop an advanced Cobra BAT in the streets of Chicago. During that operation, she stumbled upon Firefly, who was trying to capture the BAT. After a brief fight with the man who had once posed as a master of the Arashikage clan, Jinx was bested for a moment and Firefly fled, robbing Jinx of her chance to beat him. She also helped stop a terrorist plot by Tyler Wingfield and joined the Joes' invasion of Cobra Island to battle the forces of a revived Serpentor. Jinx later joined Snake-Eyes, Scarlett and Kamakura on a mission into Tibet to investigate a Red Ninja retreat hidden in the mountains. The Red Ninjas had expanded and moved beyond simply being made up of rogue Arashikage ninjas. Snake-Eyes defeated their leader, Sei Tin, and the remaining ninjas pledged their loyalty to him.

Months later, Storm Shadow had finally broken free of the Commander's mind control and headed to Japan to distance himself from his past and embrace the Arashikage traditions once again. Billy reunited with his old mentor, who now trained a young woman, Junko Akita, as his new apprentice. She and Storm Shadow also became lovers. When Junko was kidnapped by the Red Ninjas, Jinx joined Billy and helped Tommy discover Junko had been taken to the Red Ninja's retreat in Tibet. Along with Budo, Snake-Eyes and Kamakura, the ninjas made their way to Tibet and found that Junko had been brainwashed by the evil ninja Sei Tin. After a brutal battle with the Red Ninjas, Jinx and the others could not stop the disturbed Junko from leaping to her death into a ravine inside the cave retreat. The surviving Red Ninjas pledged their loyalty to Snake-Eyes once again, as they had months earlier when he was declared their new leader. Days later, a ceremony was held in the mountains honoring those who had died in the battle. It was there that Snake-Eyes turn leadership of the Red Ninjas over to Billy. Jinx and the last remaining ninjas resolved to become the foundation of the new Arashikage clan. Some time later, members of the Joe team fought Cobra forces that were drawn into an attack on a train guarded by the Joes, believing that Destro was being held prisoner onboard. At the battle's end, Hawk was shot in the back by Cobra Commander and paralyzed. In Hawk's absence, the Jugglers began to take control of the team to reign it in, if not disband it altogether. Eventually, the team's roster was cut down to only a dozen Joes, and Jinx was one of many reassigned to other units. After the remaining Joes stopped a plot by Cobra to unleash the weapon known as the Tempest, and defeated a new threat, the Red Shadows, the military again disbanded the team.

Jinx returned to Japan but she and Budo soon broke up, as he began to claim that a ninja like Jinx could never understand the honor of a samurai. In reality, this was all a ruse by Budo to protect Jinx from his mission to infiltrate the organization of Hayatu Toba, a Japanese weapons manufacturer and head of a secret group called the Tatenokai that was dedicated to overthrow the current Japanese government. Unaware of this, Jinx decided to focus on her work and accepted a classified assignment in Europe. A year later, she received word that Budo needed her help to stop Toba. She contacted the recently reestablished Joe team, who quickly put together a group of the nearest available reserve team members. Though the mission called for stealth and subterfuge, the only available Joes were Clutch, Rock & Roll, Gung-Ho and Wild Bill -- all Joes not noted for their stealth or subtlety. She decided they would work best as a distraction. They posed as obnoxious businessmen meeting with Toba and started to fight amongst themselves in his office to distract security. Meanwhile, Jinx infiltrated the group's headquarters and discovered Toba's army. Budo continued to pretend to work for Toba, and allowed the other Joes to be captured. They all learned that Destro sent Mistress Armada to join forces with Toba. When Toba refused to follow her orders, she killed him and started the coup without him. As the Tatenokai forces rolled through the streets of Tokyo, many of the soldiers turned on each other. Budo had worked to subvert many of them away from Toba's control, and they and the Joes put a stop to the attempted rebellion. Currently, Jinx continues to serve as a reserve member of the G.I. Joe team, while Budo has chosen to continue fighting against the criminal element in Tokyo.
