In the 1980s, Blackthorne Comics
published comics based on various toy, movie and cartoon franchises "in
3-D". The comics used the familiar cardboard "glasses" with one red and
one blue plastic lenses. These stories aren't full color, only using red
and blue lines on white paper, which created a three-dimensional effect
when reading with the 3-D glasses. These issues are extremely difficult
to read without the glasses, though many kids undoubtedly lost them. The
stories didn't fit very well in the Marvel series' continuity or the Sunbow
cartoon's continuity, either.
