WENDELL FREEN. The owner of the company, Nexus-Tech. The company was one of the United States' defense contractors and produced missile guidance systems. Freen had been overbilling the government for many years and was afraid the truth was about to be discovered. He made a deal with Cobra and staged a fake hostage situation, complete with terrorists that were really BATs in disguise. Cobra agents posed as hostages and were to erase Nexus-Tech's records to keep Freen's deception a secret.(SM 17)
